Part 1
Part 2
I have always noticed how reluctant people are to be portrayed by a camera: large, intrusive, almost as if it were violating a personal space. So I decided to use my iPhone.
With a phone, the barrier lowers: people relax, open up, and often do not attribute to a smartphone shot the “weight” of a professional photograph. Thanks to this, I was able to venture into the narrow streets of Pignasecca and the Quartieri Spagnoli, encountering faces that, in front of a camera, might have said no.
The project is developed in two chapters: the first, set in Pignasecca, is entirely in black and white; the second, in the Quartieri Spagnoli, opens instead to color.
